BS4360 43EE | 43EE Steel | 43EE Steel Plate Manufacturer & Exporter – Gangsteel

Gangsteel is a leading manufacturer, stockist, and global exporter of BS4360 43EE structural steel plates, also known as 43EE steel plate. This grade belongs to the legacy British Standard BS4360 (now largely superseded by EN 10025-3 but still widely specified and used in many international projects, especially in oil & gas, offshore, shipbuilding, and heavy fabrication sectors).

43EE is a fine-grain, normalized or normalized rolled weldable structural steel with guaranteed impact toughness at -50°C (Charpy V-notch minimum 27 J), making it suitable for low-temperature applications where good weldability, high strength, and excellent notch toughness are required.

Gangsteel keeps large stock of BS4360 43EE steel plates in thicknesses 6 mm – 200 mm, widths 1500–4020 mm, and lengths up to 18000 mm. We offer cutting (plasma, laser, oxy-fuel), beveling, shot blasting + primer, third-party inspection (SGS, BV, TUV, LR, ABS, DNV, GL), and full EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 certification.

FAQ – BS4360 43EE Steel Plate

Q1: Is BS4360 43EE still a valid specification?

A: Yes, many legacy projects, offshore specifications, and client drawings still call for BS4360 43EE. However, the current European replacement is EN 10025-3 S355NL (same -50°C impact requirement).

Q2: What is the difference between 43E and 43EE?

A: 43E has impact test at -40°C, while 43EE is tested at -50°C (more severe low-temperature toughness).

Q3: Can 43EE be used for offshore structures?

A: Yes, it meets many older offshore specifications (similar to API 2H Gr.50 or EN S355NL). For new projects, check if EN 10025-3 S355NL or API 2W Gr.50 is now required.

Q4: Does Gangsteel stock BS4360 43EE plates?

A: Yes — common thicknesses 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 15 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, 30 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm, 60 mm, 80 mm, 100 mm are usually available ex-stock. Wider and thicker plates can be rolled to order (up to 4200 mm × 500 mm).

Q5: What welding precautions are needed for 43EE?

A: Low-hydrogen electrodes, preheat depending on thickness (usually 50–100°C for >40 mm), and interpass temperature control. CEV is low, so most thicknesses can be welded without preheating.

Q6: Can you supply BS4360 43EE with 3.2 certification?

A: Yes — we regularly supply with third-party certification from Lloyd’s Register, DNV, ABS, BV, SGS, TUV, etc.
